Where Dophins Play
Where Dolphins Play was written for the Pine Island Academy band in St. Augustine, Florida. Since their school mascot is a dolphin, the composer’s intent in this work was to capture the playful and charming spirit of these beloved marine mammals. The music is catchy and tuneful, and consists of two main sections that complement one another and play off of the same themes. Composer Chandler Comer’s imagination and originality are most evident in this very fun work for younger ensembles.
The Race Against Time
The Race Against Time is a loosely programmatic work depicting the hectic and fast-paced nature of life in the 21st century. In this highly original and well-crafted work, you will hear moments of stress, ambition, determination, willpower, burnout, breakthrough, and accomplishment in a cycle that modern life takes us through constantly. Many of the sections in this piece are short-lived, mirroring the ephemeral nature of each stage in the cycle. This piece ultimately serves as a reminder to sometimes stop “running the race”, and to find a healthy balance between working hard and enjoying life.
