Born November 6, 1947 and raised in Belmar, New Jersey, Timothy Broege attended public schools in New Jersey while studying piano, theory and improvisation with Helen Antonides.  At Northwestern University he studied composition with M. William Karlins, Alan Stout, and Anthony Donato, piano with Frances Larimer, and harpsichord with Dorothy Lane.

After teaching for two years in the Chicago Public School system, he returned to New Jersey and taught elementary school general and instrumental music in the Manasquan, NJ school system for nine years.  Since then he has served as Organist and Director of Music at both the First Presbyterian Church of Belmar, and the historic Elberon Memorial Church.

His music has been performed throughout the world by orchestras, wind bands, chamber music ensembles, choruses and many soloists.  He has written for both large and small ensembles, as well as for keyboard, guitar, recorder and school bands and orchestras.  The recipient of the Edwin Franko Goldman Award from the American School Band Directors' Association, Timothy Broege has also received the Award of Excellence from the New Jersey Education Association.
